New Invention: Next generation DNA and gene synthesis method

An inventor from Turkey presented at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2014 the invention: “Next generation DNA and gene synthesis method”.

Synthetic bio(techno)logy industry needs cheap, high throughput and reliable long DNA synthesis method to meet growing demands on synthetic genes. Current solid support chemical DNA synthesis method limits further cost reduction in gene synthesis. It has also problems with accuracy and scalability. Genes are synthesized with assembly of of long DNA oligonucleotides, oligonucleotides quality and size are crucial factor to produce longer genes and genomes. Current methods are not effective enough to build genome size biological systems.

This invention is new enzymatic DNA synthesis method controlled by light, decreasing synthesis step lead to accurate and fast single strand DNA synthesis on magnetic micro spheres. Long and high quality oligos can be synthesized on magnetic micro particles. In this concept double and single strand DNA can be synthesized according to demand. During gene synthesis it is possible to sequence DNA simultaneously to control correct bases.
