New Invention: Method and Apparatus for Storing Energy

An inventor from Saudi Arabia presented at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2014 the invention: “Method and Apparatus for Storing Energy”.

Intruduction

• Grid scale energy storage system,
• It will work for load management and will boost the renewable energy like wind and solar,
• It will help shaving the peak and will make the wind and solar energy reality,
• Solving this problem will save energy and reduce the pollution that comes from the fossil fuel burning.

The invention is simply changing the electric energy to potential energy when charging and releasing it again as electrical energy when depleting. Using gravity on a differential of elevation that will be usually found in a steep mountain to work on multiple of heavy weights to be lifted during off peak time and lowered during the peak time.

The conventional way that matches this invention is the pumped storage systems around the world. They use water as a medium for energy storage, while in this invention are used solid weights which allows using denser medium, like mountains which are not near water resources.

This invention will change the market of energy on which will bring a secondary market for the alternative energy and all of its components are from the shelf.

The market for this invention is huge. It can accommodate gaga watts of electric energy in local or regional or international level.
