New Invention: Early Detection of Vascular Dementia (EDVaD) Device for Alzheimer Disease Prevention

Inventors from Thailand presented at the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva 2014 the invention: “Early Detection of Vascular Dementia (EDVaD) Device for Alzheimer Disease Prevention”.

VaD and Depression are the major causes of Alzheimer and that can be early detection and prevention before leading development to Alzheimer. So, the EDVaD is ability to detect early stage of Alzheimer.

Technical development:

  1. Artificial Neural network analysed many factors for predicting probability of VaD and AD.
  2. Doppler Ultrasound is very useful for carotid stenosis detection.

Performance and clinical test:

  • High correlation between VaD and AD (r=0.85, p<0.01)
  • High accuracy 75% and precision 92%.
